Our Practice in Trail, BC

Dr. Nina Pasin was born and raised in Trail.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia, and in 1997 she graduated as Valedictorian with a Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University.

After graduation, she traveled north to Anchorage, Alaska where she practiced for 12 years first as an associate in an ophthalmology practice, and then as the owner of the same multi-doctor practice when the current owner retired.  She joined the Trail Vision Care Clinic as a partner in 2010 and is happy to be back in the Kootenays.

Dr. Pasin enjoys the variety of all areas of optometric practice.  She enjoys learning new things, and recently has participated in research on the newest implantable ocular lens technology available for cataract patients.  She has a friendly caring personality, and is always happy to see her patients!

Dr Pasin has been privileged to provide optometric services in underserved countries including Honduras, Indonesia and Moldova.  Outside the office, she enjoys summers at Kootenay lake, hiking the mountains, managing her hobby farm and spending time with her family.  

Dr. Lindsay Geeraert earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in the Dean’s honour roll from the University of Waterloo in 2011 after finishing her initial schooling at the University of Saskatchewan.  She is originally from Saskatoon, SK and has practiced with the Trail Vision Care Clinic since 2013. When winter comes around, Lindsay is especially thankful to have settled in the Kootenays!

Lindsay is an avid runner, and if you can’t find her training for an upcoming marathon, you will probably find her outside mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, camping with her family or doing something artistic!  She loves to take her dogs out on the trails, but only if they can keep up to her 4 year old Emery and her 2 year old Declan!  

Dr. Geeraert (Dr. Lindsay) became a partner in the Trail Vision Care Clinic in 2016, and has been thrilled to offer full-scope care to her patients in the Kootenays!  Dr. Lindsay is always accepting new patients, and has a special interest in dry eyes as well as children’s eye exams within her primary care practice.  Dr. Lindsay not only enjoys helping you address any of the ocular concerns you might have, but also screen you for those you might not know about!  She looks forward to meeting you, and seeing you and your family at the Trail Vision Care Clinic!

Dr. Nevada Sweeney attended the University of Lethbridge where she earned her undergraduate degree with distinction in general science, before going on to earn her Doctor of Optometry at Pacific University in 2016. As part of her degree, Dr. Sweeney rotated through the US VA Hospital in Tacoma WA, Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute in Vancouver, WA, and Portland, OR area family eye clinics. During her time at Pacific University, she also participated in an eye care mission trip to Nicaragua.

After graduation, she became the senior optometrist at an ophthalmology clinic in Idaho for 4 years before relocating back to Canada in 2020. She fell in love with the Kootenays after her parents retired nearby, and has been extremely excited to make the Trail area her home.

Dr. Sweeney is the newest partner at the Trail Vision Care clinic and enjoys all aspects of primary care, but has a particular interest in treating and managing dry eye and ocular disease. She also loves to see children!

Outside of work, Dr. Sweeney enjoys photography and spending time with her husband and 4 children; skiing, snowboarding, camping, hiking and soaking up all of the beauty that the Kootenays has to offer. She is accepting new patients and would love to see you and your family at the Trail Vision Care Clinic.

Dr. Alfred Semenoff was born in Castlegar.  He attended the University of 

Waterloo in Ontario and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of 

Optometry degree in 1991.  Dr. Semenoff has been practicing at the Trail Vision Care Clinic since 1991.  Alf spends his free time in the Kootenays skiing, golfing, fly fishing, gardening and hiking.  He has a special interest in low vision and contact lenses, and finds great satisfaction in being able to help patients with their vision and eye concerns.  If you can’t find Alf outdoors enjoying the Kootenays, he is likely traveling with his family to an exciting destination!  The next time you see Alf, ask him how his last trip went!

Alanna is Trail Vision Care’s ocular hygienist, and has been with the Trail Vision Care Clinic since the opening of our dry eye clinic in 2022!  Previously living in Vancouver, Alanna built her career as a medical esthetician and professional make-up artist. She has since returned to her family’s home town of Rossland and loves being back to the Kootenay roots she grew up with! In her spare time, you will find her enjoying the outdoors with her husband; sledding, skiing, playing hockey, and swimming at the lake – always with their two fur babies at her side. Fun fact: Alanna is also a special effects trained make-up artist, however, you could never get her to watch any scary movies! Alanna is certified in cold laser and the technologies used in our new advanced ocular surface treatments – so you know that your eyes and skin are in good hands with her! Amie is our very hard-working office manager.  When you phone in to make an appointment with one of our receptionists, Amie may be the friendly voice you speak with. She will work around your busy schedule to ensure you are seen by one of our optometrists promptly.  She has been working with the Trail Vision Care Clinic since 2014 and knows exactly how to meet your needs or answer your questions!  Amie loves to spend time outdoors and if you can’t find her outside in the sunshine, you’ll have to search for her at the lake, out camping, fishing or looking great in one of our perfectly crafted pairs of sunglasses!  She is friendly, professional, knowledgeable and very happy to help you!  Listen for Amie when you call in to the clinic and send her a hello!

Geri is our head optician here at the Trail Vision Care Clinic.  She has been with TVCC since 2016 and has been in the eye care industry for 12 years!  She really knows her stuff, as she received her license as a registered optician from NAIT in 2019.  She is a master of the lens, and will not only select the best lens for you and your needs, but also edge your lenses into the frame that you’ve chosen together!  She is a very friendly face here at TVCC and is always keen to help you out.  She has an infectious laugh and if she is working, you’ll certainly hear her brighten up the environment here at TVCC.  Geri enjoys spending time camping, hiking and swimming, and prefers if she does those things with her family, friends and her dog!  The next time you are in our clinic, come and say ‘Hi’!  

Heather is one of our pre-test specialists and has been with the Trail Vision Care Clinic since 2019.  After you have checked in with reception, they’ll point you down to the end of the building, where you will be greeted by Heather’s friendly face!  She has mastered the art of the pre-test, and she will have you through those machines to see the doctor in no time!  She has a gentle touch, is fast and efficient and she might even be able to help you with your fear of ‘the puffer’!  She loves to interact with our patients and continually learn about the clinic and its operations, as we are constantly throwing new technology her way!  She knows how to make your pre-test an enjoyable experience as she works alongside her ‘partner in pre-testing’ and friend, Kerri!  When she is not enjoying a good pre-test, you will find Heather hanging out with her dog Ralph, or doing adventurous day trips and getaways outside.  Come and give Heather a friendly hello the next time you visit our clinic: she’ll throw one right back at you!

Kerri is one of our pre-test specialists and has been with the Trail Vision Care Clinic for 8 years!  You can find her in one of our three pre-test rooms next to your doctors, happily ready to get you through and prepped for your exam!  Kerri has been practicing her art for so long, you might be tempted to ask her all of your eye care questions, but save those for the doctors!  She is very knowledgeable, and because of this, we may have even given her the unofficial title of ‘Dr. Kerri’.  She loves helping all of her patients understand what pre-test is, and why we do all that we do here at the clinic.  She also enjoys working alongside her ‘partner-in-pretest’, Heather and together, they will make your experience seamless and enjoyable.  If you can’t find Kerri practicing her skills in the pre-test area, you can find her spending time with her family and 2 dogs, or doing spontaneous things!  If you are interested in hearing more about Kerri’s spontaneity, the next time you see Kerri, just ask her about her last trip to the beach, her last road trip or her last hike!  If she doesn’t have a story for you, it’s because she was busy relaxing from all of her adventures!

Marilyn has been with the Trail Vision Care Clinic for 10 years!  She is trained in, well, almost everything, and has recently shown an impressive knack for helping our patients pick out spectacle frames.  Marilyn is currently our contact lens specialist, and pre-test assistant.  She is highly knowledgeable and able to help you with all of your contact lens needs, whether you are a new contact lens wearer or a seasoned contact lens veteran.  She knows almost everyone who walks through the doors at TVCC, and you can listen for her friendly laugh throughout the clinic. The next time you come to the Trail Vision Care Clinic, look for Marilyn working hard as she always does, and ask her what she doesn’t know how to do around here!

Melita joined our team as another one of our highly-qualified and knowledgeable opticians in 2023!  We are thrilled that she moved from Calgary to our beautiful home in the Kootenays for this opportunity.  She works alongside all of our friendly frame-room staff and is ready and eager to jump in when you finish your exam with one of our doctors.  Melita is from Australia and started her practice as an optician there in 2005.  She moved to Alberta in 2008 and was licensed as an optician in Canada in 2013.  Melita loves being in nature, where she can explore with her dogs or go hiking and camping.  It doesn’t stop there though, as she is from Australia and so she does also enjoy a good kayak or swim, a cup of tea and a good book, spending time with her friends, and of course a good laugh!  When you can’t find Melita being extremely friendly, you might find her working on a beautiful cross stitch or diamond painting!  What is that, you ask?  You’ll have to come in and find out for yourself!  Fun fact: Melita not only enjoys sports and crafts but also the world of video games!  You can find her immersed in the world of multiplayer online role-playing adventure games!  Talk about versatile – you might just find that you have something in common with Melita the next time you are in! 

Pat has been with Trail Vision Care Clinic since 1990, first as an optometric assistant, and then earning her optician’s license shortly after. Pat specializes in helping patients with frame selection, as well as counseling on new advances in lens technology and options for lenses to put in the frames you’ve chosen!  She is very knowledgeable in her position here at the Trail Vision Care Clinic, and currently spends most of her time edging the lenses that you’ve chosen into the frames that you’ve chosen!  If you have a great pair of spectacles from the Trail Vision Care Clinic, they may have been made by Pat!  Pat likes to spend her spare time with her family, kids and grandkids, and if you can’t find her running around with all of those people, you can find her golfing, reading and swimming.  She has a heck of a golf swing, and is a regular participant on our TVC golf team!

Val is our very conscientious, professional and knowledgeable optometric assistant.  She has been with the Trail Vision Care Clinic since 2015, so she has got you covered!  She very much enjoys finding the right frame for you, as frames are really an extension of your personality!  They matter, and it matters to her that you leave happy!  If you have just finished your eye exam and are ready for new spectacles, you will find Val ready to help you navigate this journey!  She is always happy to help guide patients through the journey of their frame and lens selection, and since it really is a big world of lenses out there, she will ask you all the right questions to ensure that you are getting the right type of lenses to suit your visual needs.  Lenses and frames are always evolving and changing in our profession, and Val helps to keep all of your options up-to-date with the latest styles and designs, so you know you are going to be able to select a great quality, stylized and proper-fitting frame.  If you aren’t sure where to start, try to find Val.  In her spare time, you can find Val spending time with her kids and grandchildren, crafting and simply loving her pets! 

Hannah joined our team at Trail Vision Care in the Spring of 2023.  As a skilled, hard-working, and happy receptionist, she is always willing to help you when you arrive.  She has a variety of skills and we are very pleased that her welcoming, friendly personality is one of them!  She tackled her front desk duties masterfully as she learned how busy and efficient we are at Trail Vision Care and fit right in. We are all very happy that Hannah is one of our team members who will welcome you to our clinic when you arrive.  When Hannah is not at work, you can find her being physically active on her paddleboard or at the gym, and creatively active whilst knitting and crocheting.  She shares her world with two wonderful kids, who are very pleased that she is a Harry Potter fanatic!  The next time you find yourself at Trail Vision Care, come find Hannah!  She’ll point you exactly where you need to go.

Caitlyn joined the Trail Vision Care team in 2023, and she will likely be the first face you will see when you enter our doors. She is very keen to help you get to where you need to be, loves interacting with our patients and you’ll notice that while we may be quite busy up at the front, her demeanor while she helps you is calm, relaxed and reassuring. We do love having her greet you alongside our front desk team of four, and she loves being part of the TVC team.

Caitlyn is from Fruitvale, and she is very artistic. She loves to paint, but can also express her talents through baking. If she isn’t creating something tasty or beautiful, she might be found hiking with her family dog, Auggie or her partner, Darren. She is surrounded by family here locally, so you might even recognize her when you come in our doors! Fun fact about Caitlyn? She can’t put down a Harry Potter book! Come and give Caitlyn a friendly hello! She will surely do the same!

Christina joined the team at Trail Vision Care in 2023, and we are thrilled to have her contribute her skills to our friendly team at the front desk! She is ready and willing to help you find what you are looking for, where you are going or just answer any questions you might have! She really enjoys being able to interact with everyone who comes into Trail Vision Care, and also enjoys being a part of a team that is all working together to provide you with excellent eye care!

Christina is from Port Coquitlam, BC and she loves to paddle board and cook new things on her Traeger. Don’t know what a Traeger is? Come into Trail Vision Care and find out! She’ll give you some hot pointers and tell you how to protect your eyes in the process!
